In 2014, a local farmer approached our founder, a skilled fabricator by trade at the time, with a question: "Can you build a better y-drop?" Existing nitrogen drop application systems were inconsistent, fragile, and inefficient. They bounced, splashed, wore out quickly, and wasted valuable nutrients. And so, what started as a favor to improve an existing, inadequate product quickly turned into something entirely new.
After building and testing multiple prototypes, one design stood apart. It stayed centered, it reduced splash, and it delivered nitrogen exactly where it was needed — as close to the row as you can get without burning out your crop. And most importantly, it worked in real-world field conditions.
That design became the foundation of what is now the original, patented NutraBoss® Y-Drop system, trusted by growers across the United States and Canada for its durability, reliable placement, and consistent in-field performance.
NutraBoss is a family-owned and operated company based in Blue Earth, Minnesota, where every system we build is engineered and assembled with hands-on attention to detail. In addition to selling our products directly, we've partnered with dealers across the United States and Canada as we've grown, but our approach has stayed the same since day one.
